Youth Media Mind of America was founded in 2005. as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization dedicated to bringing audio, video, and multimedia communications technology within the reach of at-risk and underserved youth between ages 14-18, including youth who are visually impaired or deaf and hard of hearing.
History
Youth Media Minds of America was founded in the home of Roy Gipson in 2005. Classes began with Roy teaching eight students the basics of audio, video, and multimedia technology. With over 15 years of experience in the audio. video multimedia industry, Roy’s passion for teaching youth emerged while serving as media director for Victory Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia. In February 2006, Roy and his students were able to move into its new facility located in the historic Avondale Estates, Georgia. After much preparation.
the first official day of classes began June 2006.
